Hi guys
I recently found this website called soundsnap.com which has been really useful for providing sounds - its basically an online platform for finding and sharing free sound effects and loops legally. I guess it’s a sort of You-tube for sounds - the only difference is that the sounds are always of great quality. Its got a huge collection of sounds, is really easy to use, and totally free.
I hope you find this helpful!

Cool, thanks for the link.
Here's another one which I find useful: The Freesound Project (http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/)

Might as well make this the official "Where to get sounds" thread
http://www.flashkit.com
I highly recommend running an ad-blocker before you go there though. My high end system slows to a crawl at times with all that crap flashing ;)

There are zillions of free sounds here:
Free Sounds (http://www.sounds.beachware.com/)
In fact, I recorded or made almost all of them. Lot's of game developers have used these sounds for their games. :)

Here is a nice place for digitally recording (i.e. no microphone needed) your own sounds for music: www.anvilstudio.com. anvil studio creates nice midi's. It is free but you have to buy upgrades for the software if you want to further your capabilities. (as far as I am concerned there is no reason)
If you have a microphone this is a nice resource for editing your own sound effects: Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net)
P.S. Url is now fixed
