Brief description:

Let's start with a general overview of the game.
Arkland Online is a C#/XNA based 2D MMORPG, in an urban/modern setting. Arkland uses C# for the base engine, but all in game coding will be done using our manmade coding language, #arkscript.

Since the Arkland Team is coding this all from scratch, we are still unfortunately in the pre-alpha stages of the game. Concepts are all complete, and we already have staff active in all aspects of game production. As it goes, we are awaiting the release of the Arkland map editor, which is 95% complete. Upon the release of this engine, we will be recruiting staff to begin designing maps.

Although sprites/buildings and such are going to be 2D, the terrain engine we are creating will transform 2D tiles to have somewhat of a 3D aspect, so we can have hills and such.

To view the current progress (in detail) of the game/engine, please visit our forums at: http://www.arklandonline.com/phpBB3/index.php

Storyline
Now, let's hit you readers with a basic storyline... Basically, this mmo will be solely based on player interaction.

The opening cinematic will go something like this:
You start as a guy/girl who was raised on the streets, lived by the streets, were in a gang as a youth. When you got into your teen years, you got decided it's time to better your life, and got a job working full time in a kitchen. But that didn't last. Now, you have just been fired from your job. What are you going to to? Go back to living as a thug? Try another go in the business world? Or maybe, just maybe, you could become a glorified street racer... It's up to you.

The player's 2D world will consist on 2 islands. One island will hold 4 gangs and businesses, and will be a massive player killing island... Where gangs rule the streets. The other island will be a non-player killing island that hosts street races and such. The game will be FULLY customizable. From player clothing, to a wide range of guns, to a fully customized ride. As such, there will be alot to do.

Each player is given a basic car at the start of the game... By joining gangs, making a business... making a profit.. They can put their money into their car. Cars are fully customizable, down to the pistons in the engine. Each part contributes to the overall functionality of the car.

Now, every aspect of the game will be a puzzle. For example... If you decide to run a gun shop, what do you need? Guns and ammo. You would go to the mines, and mine raw materials, then process them to make guns/ammo, which in turn you can sell at your store. Another example, If you decide to be a mechanic... each part installed will have some certain puzzle to complete the task. Another, driving... Oh, it wont be THAT easy. And then, to ease the brain, you can always fight... grab a gun and shoot those noobs. ;)

Every day, there will also be staff on hosting events for players who are bored for some reason. Events will include things like Last Man Standing.. Capture the Flag.. so forth. Winning events will win you money as well.

The future goal of Arkland Online will be to become a game that players can create their own servers using #arkscript. Completed worlds which are approved by admins would be hosted on our server, and managed by the creator.

Target aim:
Freeware to begin with, then players will have to purchase month/year/lifetime subscription... That's the long term goal (When we've established a notable playercount).

Compensation:
As of right now, we are still being developed. Once we establish a base ground, we will open to donations to run the server/client so forth. The remaining weekly profit will be distributed among the team.
