Hi there.
I am a 3D developer who has created content for previsualising infrastructure, mining and various realworld engineering scenarios. I am wanting to port this stuff out to a realtime platform to enable a more interactive assesment of designs by decision making users.
I have so far looked at Quest3D (which looks good). Other options i am looking toward are OGRE and VirTools.
Im just a dumb 3D guy and am looking for something that is fairly easily to use, stable and well documented. I am really just looking for something that users can navigate around by themselves (with collision volumes) and can also turn elements off and on via menus and sliders. We also need prescripted camera paths and animatable elements. Something that creates executable files that are freely distributed is needed.
Can anyone make some recomendations as to what i should choose.
At the moment i am probably moving towards Quest3d or OGLE.
thanks

hi jwallis,

also take a look on ShiVa from www.stonetrip.com

it seems to be quite better than the other dev kit you already seen before and the community is really active.

take a look on it!

For the objective that you have described here, you probably might want to go with Unity. It's a very powerful engine serves for all purpose needs. With this engine you can make webplayers for users to tryout, or you can make standalone builds that you can publish as a game, or a test environment. The only restriction that you have with it, is that you must have a Mac, and purchase an Indie license around $200.
