View Full Version : OpenGL?
Ive been intrested in learning OpenGL. What I ask is that ive been thinking of learning of course through some type of book (for dummies, etc, etc). I can't seem to find one in my local library, or in the book store around where I live. So I decided to buy one online, theres quite a few books when I search for one. Any comments of any good ones that I should get? Ones that help you understand the best, and make the process as easy as possible. If you don't know, simply don't post.

Not exactly an OpenGL book for dummies however worth picking up if you're serious about working with it:
The OpenGL Extensions Guide By Eric Lengyel (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1584502940)

Surprised no one's mentioned the Red Book (http://www.amazon.com/OpenGL-Programming-Guide-Official-Learning/dp/0321481003/) already.

Why don't you try out the NeHe tutorials (http://nehe.gamedev.net/) for free, and then pick and choose from all the colorful books (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/104-5917906-3343915?%5Fencoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=OpenGL%20Architecture%20Review%20Board) when you're ready?

I would suggest GameTutorials (http://www.gametutorials.com/), although it isn't a book nor is it free I know I learned a lot from the tutorials.
CodeSampler (http://www.codesampler.com/oglsrc.htm) has some pretty nice examples too.
For an actual book the 'Red Book' should definitely be the first one on your shelf (or right next to your keyboard).
