My team and I at Noobisoft Studios are working on a 2D Role-Playing Game (RPG) with some mixed elements from the following games: Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy series, and Suikoden I+II. The name of the game is The Storm.

I am curious to know what you would think of a game along these lines. I am thinking of selling it for $5.00, but if nobody would buy, there is no point.

<b>Information on the game:</b>
The game takes place in a fantasy/medieval world, at a time when the Highland Territory is fighting to control the country. The ruler of the territory and army, Luco Starias, is a blood-driven maniac who slaughters innocent people and burns villages down to piles of ash just for his pleasure.
You play as Riou Yufren, a 17 year-old boy, along with his childhood friend, Serge Genkurta. Riou's father, a previous ruler who died in war, gave his son a sacred, or holy, headband.
The games magic system is based on a rune and element system. For each elemental color, there are two levels of runes which do different effects based on the element. The elemental colors are: White, which represents Light; Black, which represents Darkness; Yellow, which represents Earth; Blue, which represents Water; and Red, which represents Fire.
The game starts out with the two friends in an army troop, fighting the Highlanders. Their troop leader, Rowd, commits treason and secretly joins the Highland Army in an attempt to ambush the State Army. The friends are forced to flee, so they run up a trail and jump off of a cliff down a waterfall.
Riou awakes in some parallel dimension ten years earlier as some sort of demi-human, with the same looks and age. Later in the game, Riou finds out that his headband allows him to teleport between three different dimensions. The first dimension is 10 years before the jump. The second is the same time as the jump, or present time. The final is 10 years after the jump.
As the game progresses, you'll find that Serge will begin acting differently. He'll eventually abandon Riou to join the Highland Army. Even further in the game, after Luco is killed, Serge takes over the leader position in the Highland Army. You can still teleport 10 years earlier and add Serge to your party, but he won't be there in any other time.
Even further in the game, Riou will take control of an abandoned castle which levels up (max level is four) with certain amounts of characters: you start with level one; 10 characters for level two; 20 characters for level three; 30 characters for level four.
The main goal or quest of the game is to recruit all 36 Stars of War, or playable characters, and defeat the Highland Army. During gameplay, you will notice that there will be different paths that you can take, which will allow you to obtain different characters, runes, items, etc.
The battle system features an attack bar (7 slots) based system. There are three choices for physical attacks: 100%, which is a defenant hit and only raises one attack bar slot but it does lesser damage; 80%, which has a lower chance of a hit, raises two attack bar slots, and it does average damage; and 60%, which has a very low chance of a hit, raises three attack bar slots, and it does excellent damage.
There is a limit of six characters per party. Each character has a separate attack range: S (short) attack range, can only be in front row, can only attack front row of enemies, greater damage; M (medium) attack range, can be anywhere in group, can only attack front row of enemies, average damage; L (long) attack range, can be anywhere in group, can attack any enemy, lesser damage.

If the information quality doesn't match the price, what could we add that could possibly make you a customer?

Thanks for reading,
-Dan

While it does sound like an interesting game, I think that by giving us the major points and turns in the story you might ruin the fun of playing the game! My suggestion would be to go and edit the post to make it where it only gives a general jist of the story.

P.S. I know that it is weird but the HTML tags on the forum is done in brackets; [ ]. Other than that it is the same.

lol, nice company name

Anyway, to tell the bare truth, I've never been a fan of the 'classic' and magic RPG's (not that I hate rpg's period). Now keep in mind this is all just my opinion, and since it's not my favorite genre, I very well could be wrong:

- I think the storyline is a bit corney and a few elements have been overused, although I will say it's excellant that you avoided orcs, elves, and dragons. It rings a bit similar to Zelda in some parts.

- The logic behind the way he aquires this power is a little confusing, unless there's some explaination you're not telling us, it's like he died and then woke up as superman.

but now for the good news:

- The "jumping dimensions" idea is awesome. I might be thinking a bit different than what you're imagining, but flashing back and fourth between time zones sounds like a really fun mechanic.

- I would personally focus more on that idea and less on the combat system or "classic rpg stereotypes". For indie developers, the only way to get people interested in your game is to make gameplay that is not seen in the large industries.
