Rival, LLC, a Washington, DC-based game studio startup, is recruiting for our new project, Shaolin Challenges Ninja. We are currently looking for a lead programmer.

Shaolin Challenges Ninja is a first-person, online, multiplayer game in an Asian style, featuring both Japanese and Chinese characters, weapons, locales and themes. It is the first of its kind, seamlessly merging both hand-to-hand and weapon-based combat and bringing the resulting realistic, exciting combination to the PC. The style is an homage to old kung fu and samurai movies, and features all the best conventions of the genre, such as ninja stealth techniques, legendary kung-fu masters, dazzling and deadly blind swordsmen and a host of well-armed nobility.

We are currently looking to add a programmer (and assistants) to our already assembled and working team. Be prepared to hit the ground running - we're hard at work on a major five-month push to assemble a professional pitch, and the next step is to put together a prototype with a vertical slice of key features.

Qualified candidates will have strong C++ programing experience, preferably in a gaming environment (modding experience especially encouraged), and will be experienced in the use of either Microsoft Visual C++ or Apple Xcode. A good work ethic and strong self-motivation and communication skills are a must, as this is a project-based telecommuting position.

Experience in and enthusiasm for the subject matter is a plus, as is experience with the C4 gaming engine.

Compensation is in the form of limited partnership in Rival, LLC and an accompanying monthly stipend. Starting stipend ranges from $1000 to $1250 a month for the initial push followed by a change to a regular, increased salary based on the performance of the demo and pitch.
