Hullo. I'm researching the Unity engine as a possible development platform. Oddly, I've seen sparkling reviews of the Unity system to the point I'm wondering in the hype is deserved.

So far, i see Disney, Cartoon Network, and hundreds of gleefully worded statements about how Unity can do a wonderful job moving ideas to finished designs.

What i want to know is this: What's WRONG with it. It's wonderful that it's so perfect so far, but it's my job to find pitfalls. Could anyone give an old fool a hand with this?

Me too!

I read the debugger isn't very good. Can't stop scrips if they get stuck in infinite loops.

Also the IDE is mac only, but that might not be a major issue.

Might want to go to the Unity website and read the tech specs on Unity. That's research you need to do initially.

I'm just wanting opinions of people who USE unity, or have at some point in the past. I already know that the docs say it can part the red sea and make lead into gold.

<grins> Anyone got personal experience that want to share?

No, no, no.

The IDE is Mac only. There are plans about a windows port of the IDE, but so far a Mac is a must if you want to create any content with Unity.

The player is available for Mac, Win, (as standalone or a browser plugin), Nintendo Wii, and soon the Iphone.
