Fast ohh i wish i had the chance but i seem to live in some warp zone that only have the right to phone(wich doesn't suport ADSL) mail, and electricity.

it is kind of ironic they speak of globalization
and that the problem is the people that can't aford it

im having a cheap cable modem with 512 down and 128 up speed.. fast and fast? i don't know.. nearly suits my mind! but the day they(the isp's) finishes up diging fibercables into our before nice road i hope to get 8 mbit! :D

I want my own fiber cable that is wider than I am tall.

Seriously though, I want instant communication via photon teleportation. I want my speed limited to how fast I can put the information through my network card.

Of course I also want huge storage (For the time being terabytes, but in the future who knows how large) to be as fast as system memory, even better as fast as lvl 1 cache.

I dream ;), but hopefully not for long.

I'm on cable and pretty happy with it. I don't need anything faster for the time being... I don't download much (hint: I'm not warezing ;)

I get a ping of 15 to 20 ms in many UT2004 servers...I rarely experience lag.

I don't need something faster, I'm quite happy with what I got.

As you know Bulgaria is the heaven itself on earth so we have ultra-fast connections ranging from 8 to 24 kBits per second, which is actually extremely fast!

Type of connection? Dunno what the ISP uses but the whole neighbourhood is full of LAN-wires, which you can actually see (and steel :)) and through which we connect to the main server. Sorta VPN.

Not interesting when in the middle of the winter one of these wires booms....

i have a dsl. speed is fine, but it's very laggy here.. (not, once you have a connection, but somehow, it sometimes even takes seconds to react while browsing. the same pc browses imediately over the same pages, when at another connection..)

My Uni has great bandwidth, but terrible ping times. The problem is the horrible packetshaping they do to prevent p2p programs from "ruining" the network, and it means that though I can push many packets through they all have a significant delay, every once in a while that delay is long enough to make things time out (30 seconds or so)

For browsing this means that all pages seem to take a while to start loading but once they do start they are fast, and sometimes they just dont load at all. With games this means I lag horribly. With chat programs I can see the delay in realtime in the timestamps, it is like a satelite news broadcast between home base and overseas. there is a delay between everything.

Depends where i am .. at work im on a 2meg SDSL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line ... ie 2 up 2 down) at home im on a 3meg down 256 up cable connection :)

Cable with about 1MBit down und something like 256KBit upload...

Might get a upgrade to 3.072 / 768 kbps within the next 2 months or so...now, that would be quite comforting... :)
