Currently we don't have a graphics forum where general graphics theory not specific to an API can be discussed.
It has been suggested that we merge the DirectX and OpenGL forums into one can called: "Graphics Theory and Implementation".
What do you guys suggest?

Extremely good suggestion, i'w say! Everyone who has a graphics issue to be resolved can search for answer there. Everyone who has problems with a GFX API can simply check the it's manual...

I agree, I thought about suggesting exactly that :)

and what about merging the "General" section with the "Languages" section?
I'm confused about what to post in the "General" section exactly...

I agree both suggestions as well. But we'll still need a place where people can sort out API specifics. Will they post those in the general graphics forum?
How about
General Graphics Programming and Algorithms (not API specific)
OpenGL API Programming
DirectX API Programming

This simply polarises things more. I don't see a problem with only one Graphics Programming forum, for general or any API specific questions. For the moment anyway, once we get a lot of traffic, splitting them up would be a Good Thing .

I agree with baldurk
Many questions asked in an API specific way can be answered with an API-independant answer.
For example:
Someone may make mention of a performance issue that they profiled to their vertex buffer creation code. Naturally this would be a DX question, but could easily be answered by someone who hangs out on the OpenGL forum by simply saying "Yep, that is how it is. You have to advoid allocating video memory during the rendering loop." which they know from working with OGL Vertex Arrays.
If a question is truely API dependant, as they sometimes are, they can simply be ignored by those who can not lend a helping hand.

I totally agree
Anyway the more visibility a message get, the more chances it can get answered.
It really depends how active the forums are. If you have lots and lots of posts its good to have pretty detailed groups (like usenet).
If you dont have a whole lot of activity, on the other hand, you can put everything (random chat, C++, VB, graphics, etc.) in one single forum.
The reason I suggested forums for specific APIs is that it allows you to easily filter DirectX away if you are an OpenGL fanatic.
