Somehow when I want to reply to old posts I get loged out and can't reply to the post. The post in question is Reedbeta's "Optimitzing Raytracing" thread.

Some minor details though:
- Avatars are missing? I enabled them in my profile
- I can't seem to find my private message center (I've got an email telling me that I have a private message, following the link doesn't work; it brought me to the forum index)
- The "today's post" only shows the post made this day (well, duh ;)), but I'm not an everyday visitor so I like the old "recent posts" link more. Disregard that, that's exactly what the "new posts" link does :)
- Quickreply is disabled until you click on one of the clickreply buttons of one of the posts. Can't this be the top-level post by default?
.edit: and it seems that the strikethough tag ([s]) is missing :)

Sorry to be a downer on the new interface, but I absolutely, totally, HATE IT.
I've always disliked vBulletin anyway, and now we're using it here, I remember why. It just feels clunky. True, it has lots of features, but it's ugly, slow, and hard to get around. Posts are still showing as unread even after I've clicked into them, the avatars are gone, there's far too much content to see on one page... I'd have been far far happier staying with the old forums.
I used to check this site several times a day, because of the way the forums were a natural extension of the rest of the site. Now, I'll probably visit a lot less often just so I don't have to put up with the crap vBulletin system. Sorry.

Aww c'mon Tufty, it's not *all* bad. You'll get used to it after a while, and besides we all know that you can't possibly stay away from us no matter what kind of forum software this site uses :)

Therefore I think your opinion is more emotional than it is justified. I don't see a lot of difference between vBulletin and the earlier Invision (it was Invision, wasn't it?), surely not the "too much information per page". It's more something getting used to, and "it's bad _because_ it's vBulletin" isn't a valid argument.

It is always hard to have everyone satisfied. As I said, over time we'll gradually take away the unnecessary and extra unneeded features. But even before, the old forums weren't really an extension of the whole site. The next phase is to unify the interface of the forums and site.

Yeah, they are disabled at the moment. They'll be back soon (some things are being sorted out).

Yeah, the click can be disabled, but that would defeat the purpose of sub-threads. If it were enabled by default, most users would natually just enter without considering for which post the reply is for. However, if the majority of here aren't using the 'threaded-view" of the threads, then we can have it enabled by default.

I'd like to thank DevMaster for providing such a great resource for game developers, which is the primary reason we decided to sponsor the forums. It will take a bit of getting used to, but I am very happy to see the upgrade has finally started. of course it is. When I first turned up, it only had one post on each thread visible, and I had to click up the top to get new ones. I think that has changed. The main thing that makes it difficult is the useless space everywhere. This is probably a theme/css issue, but there is useless space that could be used to make it easier to browse. For example, look at the space between this post and the quick reply box.
I know it is no good just saying "I don't like it" and wondering why there is no chance :), but I think that in time, we will get used to it. I hope that we will see this look more like the rest of the site, not vice versa. The rest of the site looks awesome, this looks like a forum theme (with good reason too!).

Well, the changes to the theme that have been made so far are already making the place look nicer. And altering the position of the user info so it's down the side again - can't think why the default is above the post, it just clutters up too much!

This might be just me being slow, but I couldn't find an option to edit a post I made a few weeks back... The options wasn't in the 'thread' options in the bar at the top of the thread, nor could I find an icon?

IIRC, vBulletin only allows you to edit your posts for a limited amount of time - if it was made a while back it may not allow you to do it.
It could also be related to changing across to the new system, it might not let you edit posts from before the change.

Looks like that is the case, since the post I made on here has an edit button. That sucks slightly, because now I can't edit my original help wanted post. Damn new board also changed my icon on that post to a thumbs down... Maybe it knows something I don't!

Editing is disallowed after 24 hours from the post (except for mods). This is mainly to prevent people from modifying a thread and causing the rest of the discussion to be inconsistent. This can be disabled though.

I's just added a new reply with the new information, and since the links always go to the last post anywa, thats cool. It's not a problem, this is the first post I have ever made that I have wanted to edit after 5 minutes anyway.

for the ones requesting for smaller spaces between to get more space for the actual content:
get a notebook with 1400x1050 res :D or a screen with something like that, or bigger :D then, it's no issue anymore, hehe..

Yeah, W00t for TV3D. My monitor on the other hand... only supports 1024x768. It was hardly worth buying that 6600GT. Oh well. Maybe I can get some money some day :).
One thing I like though, is the lack of loading time once you post, edit and all that jazz. I could get used to this forum.
