I was wondering if there is a program that is as easy to use and powerful as milkshape. (A close competitor would be nice too)

I use GMax and it's free, but it probably don't have the same export and import capabillities as milkshape. Anyways check it out at: http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax.

At least you can export quake3 models with it. And (don't tell others, ahum): you can convert those quake3 models with milkshape to almost any other format you can dream of.

AC3D (http://www.ac3d.org/) counts as a good competitor for Milkshape. It is available for both linux and windows platforms..

I use blender for modeling/animation. I dont think there is any current software that supports as many game formats as Milkshape though.

Misfit Model 3D (http://www.misfitcode.com/misfitmodel3d/main.html) is quite similar.
