I was wondering where I could get some of these programs (BTW I just started down the path of game development so if i say something stupid srry)

1. a texture editor
2. a mesh editor/creator
3. a skin creator (for models...I don't know if there is such a thing or if a texture editor and skin creator are the same things)
4. anything else that I might need when it comes to creating a 3D game...
BTW I would like to try to use free programs

Thank You for any input:happy:

Here are two free ones:

I highly recommend Milkshape3D. It has a shareware, and the full version is $25 -- which is well worth it.

I also use the Gimp, and have been happy with its features (as monjardin suggested).

3. a skin creator

Once, there was an excellent freeware tool called LithUnwrap for skinning stuff. However, I think it went commercial quite some time ago. Perhaps you can find one of the not-so-feature packed, old, free versions somewhere on the net. Yet, I seem to remember it wasn't all to expensive as a commercial program, either.

See http://www.unwrap3d.com/ for details about the commercial one (.. just googled it up ..)
