Hi,

I am working on creating a Free Software clone of "Military Madness", an old Turbografx-16 game from 1989. So far it's coming along okay, but I'm getting to the point where I can't proceed much farther without some artwork. Since I have no artistic talent myself to speak of, I'm putting up requests everywhere I can think of to try to find someone who is willing and able to help out. (Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this type of request).

Here's what I have done so far:

Inception (http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2005/12/5/14255/9465)
Laying the groundwork (http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2005/12/9/133416/963)
The map engine (http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2005/12/13/12341/770)
Units and pathfinding (http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2005/12/21/114942/60)
Animation and basic combat (http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2005/12/27/20659/806)
The game interface (http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2006/1/5/113137/6535)
The name of the game (http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2006/1/9/123013/3578)
The artwork - terrain tiles (http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2006/1/11/123327/670)

The last link is where I'm basically stuck. What I'm looking for at this point is terrain tiles - this is a 2D, overhead view game, nothing really fancy. It's set on the moon so the terrain types are basically limited to plains, hills, mountains, chasms, craters, and the like.

I'm developing this in my spare time, not for commercial gain, so I don't have a huge budget, but I am willing to negotiate a small fee if that will motivate some artists out there to contribute.

I have an example image (http://www.scorbett.ca/projects/MM/Terrain-example.png) that I came up with myself that shows the dimensions and shape of the terrain tiles I'm looking for, but obviously I need help with this because I can't draw to save my life.

If anyone out there wants to contribute to this project, please post here or send me an email or something. Anyone who contributes artwork that gets used in the final game will get an entry on the credits screen (and huge thanks from me!)

Loved that game. Hope you can get someone to help you out with the artwork needed! Granted, I don't have much time to read how much you have posted about your remake, but are you at the point where its basically finished minus the artwork? If not, just throw some placeholder images in there until you can get some help.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I've been using placeholder images up until this point, and they look terrible. I'm at the point where I want to write a map editor so I can start building levels for the game, but I'd like to have proper terrain artwork before I start the map editor.

And no, I'm not really finished the game either, but I'm getting to the point in development where I can't get much farther without an artist. I haven't even thought about unit sprites yet!
