Well yesterday (or was it the day before  ) Triple Buffer was officially opened on devmaster. We'd be very happy to hear what you think of it? How's the design, the content, the load times.
Triple Buffer is a site with source code that can be used to make games and with tutorials that gets you moving towards game development. There is a rating system in place so you can let us and other users know what has helped and what hasnt, please use it. And then of course there is this forum that you can use to ask questions about the software and give us feedback to make teh site a better place to be.
What would you like to see on it? More source code or more articles. ALthough I'm sure that with devmaster+gamedev+flipcode it will be pretty pointless putting up articles. What kind of source code?
Anyway, give us all your feedback. And dont hold back B)

Well ... I think if your articles or source code are different from them then they will not be pointless. There are a lot of topics that aren't covered there  (I think)
I think that your web design looks great. overall, I think your site is perfect B)
Btw, I'd like to see your site turn into NeHe (for DirectX instead of OpenGL).

I guess there's some truth to that statement...

perfect? :D Thanks chap
That would be really cool if it turned into something like nehe. maybe i should make a kind of glut (fore direcx) that i can use for the tutorials and make all the common stuff easier.
Or maybe a dxut (directx utility lib) can be donated by someone who already has one ;)
Thanks for feedback so far. We want More.. MORE .... MOOOORE

It will be very good if you will directly use DirectX files. DrunkenHyena have already got few going with his own sdk of DirectX. ;7

You mean tutorial style or site layout/design?

 I meant the tutorials ... the way they are explained and the way they are defined ...
I am not talking about the layout ... he have got skins. You can choose whatever skin you wnat.
You can do that Ali if you wnat to ? But will require a lot of work though? ;7

I'm probably going to get flak for this, but I disapprove of the NeHe style. It makes it too easy to copy-paste, and too easy to simply skip over the "understanding" stage. I've seen many newbies come in complaining that their copy-pasted code from lesson 23 doesn't work with their copy-pasted code from lesson 33. When you tell them to learn it, then rewrite it, they complain and go away :/.

:P I learned a lot from his site!
bladder: what's your plans for your site?

i thought he was refering to the general site layout... it would be lame to just copy that.
yeah... the nehe tuts are good for reference but provide not much in terms of real learning ( learning like "learning by doing" )

nah...no one is gonna "flak" you...at least i hope not!
bladder: what's your plans for your site?
Ooh plans...lots of plans. The todo list is currently as follows:
1. Finish stepping stones series.
2. Start graphics effects series
3. Start RPG series
4. Make particle system library
5. Make RPG engine.
6. Add framework sections every now and then
Problem with number one is that I picked THE WORST game in existence to show a real world example on, and I just cant bring myself to finish it for the 100th (it seems that way anyway) time. I wish I had chosen something other then tetris. Coding tetris is a bitch. Even breakout (also extremely boring) would have been a better choice :(
Number 2 has no problems, it will come eventually.
Number 3 is something i look forward to, and I'm sure when I get around to it, it will become quite popular because no website has it. I'm not gonna actually make an RPG, just different tutorials on different parts of an rpg game, for example:
- a simple script system, not a C type script system or anything, more like a script system that has a fixed number of script commands that can interpreted. ANyone used RPG maker?
- how to handle inventory.
- how to make maps.
- how to implement a battle engine.
and other RPG related stuff. It wont touch the graphics/sound/input part, only the RPG part, mostly theory.
Number 4 is very close to completion as we speak (ETA: within 2 weeks).
Number 5 is being designed as we speak. Will take the longest to do though
Number 6 is also in progress. Framework section is probably one of those sections that can never have enough stuff in it. So Im always adding whenever I get the chance.
So lots of plans. How far the plans go is an entirely different matter though. Maybe I should start hiring people
Anyway, about the teching style, what do you think is the most effective way of teaching. Not that Ill change the current tutorials (it would be a lot of work), but future ones will keep it in mind.
Wow, that sounds good

anything really. I think Ill start posting in different places asking for community donations (not money, source code). You know like how gametutorials.com have a community dump area? Well something like that only directly integrated with everything else on the site, not isolated like how gametutorials has it done.

Exactly what kind of donations are you talking about here? seems like you've got most base stuff covered. Anything specific you would need?
And well how does TripleBuffer relate to Devmaster? Is one the code dump and the other the article center or well... ummm yeah...

ok. I posted a news item on the main page of my site. Check it there. Triple Buffer is not really associated with devmaster. Well it is in that it is hosted by the devmaster servers, but that's all. Triple Buffer has actually been around on th enet longer then devmaster (About a year now). I guess I'm really bad with advertising though :sigh:
