recently there hasen't been any op around and imo the "usual" croud should be oped so that we all can change the topic, etc.
in other channels i have made pretty good experience with "op for everybody" policies.
call it communist or what you like but that's my idea of an irc channel ;)

the flip side being that the more ops, the more potential for chaos, and there are also examples of channels going down the tube with too many ops.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with having lots of ops, but I would say that we shouldn't have more ops than necessary.

Note: there are in fact no ops atm, unless apex comes on, as my hostmask has changed so I'm no longer an auto-op.

Perhaps a good compromise would be to op, for example, davepermen, anubis and I. I wouldn't say that's too many, and that means theres likely to be at least one op at any one time (mostly).

my point is that there is no point in being an op except for power reason and status. if all the people who are in the channel on a regular basis have op rights it's more convenient for everybody (since i can do whatever i like to do without waiting for apex to return home when it's late at night here). clearly we should all be careful about who we op. it should just be the devmaster core croud.

yeh. I suggest a kind of 'trial' period with the 3 of us as ops, and see how it goes. The main thing with this is to try it out, as there's no way you can know in advance what's going to work and what won't.
