Realm Crafter (Solstar games) is doing a stress test to determine the stability of the engine. If you'd like to help, download the client (I believe it's available July 11th) from the official site:

MMORPG Maker has a recent interview with developer of RC, and you can read it all here:

There is some info about plans for RC 2, which will support DX9.

Why would you not be able to view content at MMORPG Maker? We don't have any porn. Well, not much anyway. Oh, that's right we banned you for spamming the forums.
Ok, here's a teaser from the interview. The site admin at MMORPG Maker, C, conducted the interview:
"... RC 2? Are you working on it?
A few months ago some of our team began quietly working on doing away with the old DirectX 7 rendering engine, and inserting a new DirectX 9 engine in its place. We decided that the Blitz3D rendering engine was too outdated to fulfill everyone's demand for modern graphics. Rather than be tied to the development cycle of BlitzMax, we decided to speed up the process of converting Realm Crafter to a more advanced graphical renderer with a new DirectX 9 rendering engine.
We will also be replacing the old Blitz-based editors with new better designed, faster versions. These editors will be using Windows UI as opposed to custom 3D-rendered UI.
...
Will this fully support DirectX 9 and all it's features? What features have you planned so far?
... Here are a list of new features the new engine will provide:
* Dynamic Shadows - Actors will all cast shadows on the ground and even upon each other.
* Mapping Techniques - Normal and Parallax mapping will make flat surfaces "appear" 3D.
* Better Lighting - Depending on the clients graphics card, we can allow up to 64 lights. This means realistic torches working at night time.
* High Dynamic Range Lighting - Areas that are bright, will look bright, and areas that are dark, will look dark!
* Bloom - Ultra-bright surfaces "blur" and slip over dark spaces to make those areas look ever brighter.
* Water - We will include a water shader which will allow realistic water with waves, ripples and reflections. We also plan to include customizing options for rougher or clamer water (ocean versus pond).
...
Will RC 2 to be backwards compatible?
Realm Crafter 2 will be fully backwards compatible, so you can import your RC 1.x projects and continue working without needing to start again from scratch.
...
What will RC 2 to cost then?
The price of the Realm Crafter engine will increase substantially when version 2 is released.
...
What do you intend to do with RC 1 after 1.10 ("Hard Features")?
Development of Realm Crafter 1.x will continue as scheduled until version 1.10, and will still be supported with bug fixes after that. The Pro version will be released as well. Our scheduled release date for Realm Crafter 2 is Winter 2006.
