I've looked up the syntax on the ARB fragment shader languages, and i must say: I LOVE IT!!

My only thought was that with this, i can be king of the world! There is nothing i can't do, and nobody can stop me!!!

..But then i came back to reality and saw that my Radeon 9000 didn't support the ARB fragment shader... So, i'm wondering, Is ther any vendor out there that supports it, or does everybody stick to themselves developing dozens of different implementations and never listen to eachother?
(I glanced at the GL_ATI_fragment_shader and.. YUCK!!)

its actually called GL_ARB_fragment_program and is on all 9500 and bether radeon cards, as well as on all one day available nv30+ based (gfFX based) cards. dunno wich ones there will actually come out, nvidia is in huge troubles to get something out. looks like their flagship, the only one beating a radeon9700pro, got canned.. dunno..

and then there are others.. basically every card fully supporting dx9 can do it.

why do you say that the ati_fragment_shader sucks ?

because its older and less powerful than ARB_fragment_program..

on the other hand, on hw that can only do that, its great. much bether than the NV_texture_shader(1,2,3) + NV_register_combiners(1,2,3) combination, and much more powerful..

but best is ATI_text_fragment_shader, integrates the ATI_fragment_shader into the ARB_fragment_program interface, just the shaderscript is a different language.. ATI_text_fragment_shader (http://oss.sgi.com/projects/ogl-sample/registry/ATI/text_fragment_shader.txt)
