Default Nebula2, irrlicht, panda32,, no gui??

I'm in search of a game dev package that is very much like (macromedia) Flash, It would seem I won't find such a thing. Currently I'm using Virtools and I don’t like the vsl. I really need a package that has a c++ type of scripting system that is much more part of the engine. I tried Nebula2, irrlicht, and panda32 but they seem to need a programming language installed to use them. I don’t see any gui or main exe file with them. If any one knows what I may be missing and that they may be what I'm looking for please let me know thx..

Well, my two cents:

As far as I know Nebula2 needs a c++ compiler as there are no binary creation packages for it. Irrlicht is a bit more flexible, while it will work with most Visual Studio languages there are also "wrappers" that make it useable with other languages like Lua and Java (how functional these are I do not know). Panda3D uses Python but I believe it installs everything you need to use it with it's distribution package (at least I never needed to install anything else).

Torque has c++ like scripting but requires a c++ compiler to build the engine. 3D Game Studio has a c like scripting language and content creation tools. Though you seem to be after a free engine.

My best advice, do an advance search of the database and check the "scripting" and "built-in-editor" boxes. These will probably yield the best results for your needs as it sounds like you want an engine that can import your content easily without much fuss and to be able to control it through scripts (I assume thats what you mean by "flash-like).

Hi
You must know the difference between Game engine(Nebula Device,Panda3d) and game creation packages (Virtools,Quest3d).

game engine:it provides public interface of high level functionality (API) to use in your main application like .Net Framework,so your main application is for example c++ application and you include the engine's libraries in your application and call any functionality, they may come with a set of tools that will help you in content creation.

game creation packages:they have a big application and from this application you can edit your game add models and sounds etc.,with help of scripting of course.
they are usually easy and fast to use but they don't have the flexibility and powere of game engines.
There is some engines that combines the two types like DracheHexe said Torque Engine which is a game engine and a big game built around it and this game has many tools like world editor, gui editor, etc, and with a very good
c-like scripting language.so you can only MoD this game to make a similar game or you can change some things in the core game code to make your own type or you can build entirly new game around the engine(but it be very hard and time consuming proccess).

Sorry for the enlargement, and i hope that i have helped .
bye

thx so much you both are truly helpful. I don’t need a free engine! Sorry if I made it sound that way. I have read about Torque, may try this. Bottom line. I love to design games. I just want to make sure I learn an engine that will work for me. I want to design 3d style games much like zelda64, mario64, DK64. I have NO NEED FOR SPS(first person shooters) my biggest nit pick is the camera control. I need to be able to swing it around much like Nintendo does. Looks like I need a game package. Once I make a platform I will re-use it. After quest32, I’ll try Torque.

Ugh... my advice is "Don't use Torque." From my expierence, it's not worth it's huge price tag.
