Description
This screenshot presents a bit updated nGENE Tech tech demo. It features improved clouds, sky and vegetation rendering (from this picture it might not be obvious but whole terrain is densely covered with grass without significant performance drop). Soon updated demo will be available for download (now it can be obtained only from project's SVN repository).

However, since last time much more have been improved/added. Shadows for instance have been completely refactored both in terms of quality and performance. For example it is possible now to mark some shadows as static to avoid updating them every frame.

Also many bugs and artifacts have been removed. Other change is that the SVN repository is now updated almost every day instead of once in 2-3 weeks what makes access to the changes and new features instant for developers.

The most recent addition is light shafts (God rays) effect which you can see in action on YouTube amongst other nGENE videos. I described the technique in full details on my blog recently.

For more details on nGENE Tech visit its homepage. More pictures are available in the gallery.

Very nice. I checked your other shots and that's quite the eye candy. I take it your clouds are procedurally generated and you just map it on some sort of skybox/sphere? The self-shadowing effect really does wonders on them.

Some of your shots show jaggies. Have you looked into or implemented transparency AA? I've seen that effect once on a large patch of grass and the quality boost was stunning.
