First-person shooter

A first-person shooter (FPS) is a game genre characterized by having the camera located "behind the eyes" of the game's main character, providing an immersive experience of being physically located in the game world. The object of an FPS is usually to progress through a fairly linear sequence of levels, collecting weapons and items along the way. The player destroys enemies by shooting them with various guns - hence the name "first-person shooter". The game ends after the player encounters and destroys the boss in the last level.
