Talk:3D coordinate systems

From DmWiki

Be kind first try.

I think this needs to be split up into a subpage for each type of coordinate system. --Anubis 05:33, 3 Sep 2005 (CDT)

Sounds like a good idea, I will write some more text then make some more pages.

I have created my sub pages now but I don't really understand how and where to categorise them. I think I want them as sub categories of the 3D Coordinates page but I don't know how to achieve this.

No problem, I categorized them for you (and put them under Math and Physics too.) In any case, the wikicode for categorization is simply to put [[Category: 3D]] somewhere in the document. You can put things in multiple categories as well. BTW, on talk pages, you can type four tildes (~~~~) to automatically insert your username and timestamp. Reedbeta 17:56, 13 Sep 2005 (CDT)

Cheers. I was wondering whether I could put them under a "3D cordinate systems" category as well. So they all has a link back to the 3D coordinates page? Fringe 16:37, 14 Sep 2005 (CDT)

This can be done, but would involve removing the current 3D coordinates article and creating a new category page with the same name. I'd rather just put a "see also" link back to 3D coordinate systems on each of the sub-pages. Actually, since the 3D coordinate systems page now contains basically no content, maybe it would be better to get rid of it entirely and post links to Cartesian, cylindrical, spherical on the Coordinate systems page. That would make sense I shall have a think about a better way to phrase it so that it fits in with that page it is quite mathematical. Is there a way of finding out which other pages link to this page so you don't accidently undo a link someone is counting on? Fringe 15:17, 15 Sep 2005 (CDT)

In the "toolbox" on the left-hand side, the "What links here" button tells you what pages link to the page you're looking at. Reedbeta 19:31, 15 Sep 2005 (CDT)
