Talk:Phong shading
From DmWiki
Phong shading actually includes lambertian illumination as well (and traditionally an ambient term). This should be reflected here --Anubis 08:41, 29 Jun 2005 (CDT)
- Okay, but I think we should distinguish between illumination and shading - as I understand it, they are not the same thing (illumination refers to how the influence of light sources is calculated, while shading refers to how the color of the surface is calculated). - For me an illumination model is a model that describes how light interacts with a surface. To be exact how much light, coming in over the hemisphere above a point, is reflected in a certain direction. Phong shading describes just that, so i'd count it as an illumination model. --Anubis 04:14, 30 Jun 2005 (CDT)
